Polysaccharide from Spirulina platensis improves sepsis-induced acute lung injury by alleviating inflammatory response and down-regulating endocan expression in rats

To explore the favourable functions of polysaccharide from Spirulina platensis (PSP) on sepsis-originated acute lung injury, together with corresponding mechanisms. 60 male SD rats were randomly separated into sham, sepsis, and sepsis+PSP group 20 in each group. Sepsis rat model was constructed by cecal ligation puncture (CLP). The mortality sepsis-related symptoms used to judge success. CLP successfully established sepsis-caused injury model. In sepsis rats, systemic inflammation pulmonary inflammation, as well endocan protein level increased. PSP treatment improved sepsis-induced reduced level. Lung biomarkers positively correlated serum pro-inflammatory factors/serum protein, while factors associated ameliorates via relieving inflammatory response down-regulating expression rat.
